The article entitled Stone Mecca Works Against ‘Hypocrisy and Racism’ In ‘Boogeyman’ Video: Premiere and written by Gary Graff, goes in-depth into the social message of the song.
The Afropunk Movement just got a new addition with Stone Mecca. The unconventional Black alternative culture and music site recently featured Stone Mecca in the post Feed Your Inner Funk Feed to the Tune of Rockers Stone Mecca’s Performance of “If Experience Was Money”.
Alienman… is a mix of blues, psychedelia, and funk that makes you wonder why Stone Mecca is not better known. You can hear shades of great artists throughout the album, but there is no question that Stone Mecca is his own artist. This album is impressive not simply because it cannot be constrained to one genre, but also because Stone Mecca plays all the instruments on the album.
The Dallas Observer just named Stone Mecca as one to watch in 2019 in their recent article “Artists to Watch: A 3-Part Guide to DFW Musicians Poised to Make Waves in 2019”. The 17 Annual Independent Music Awards recently announced this year’s honorees and Stone Mecca has made the list. His album Alienman is nominated for Best Funk/Jam/Fusion Album. In addition, his music video “Boogeyman” has been nominated for Best Social Action Short Form Video.
